Location
2001 Colorado Blvd, Denver, CO, United States, Colorado 80205
Join us as we welcome Dr. Sarah Klassen for this presentation – and make sure to visit “Angkor: The Lost City of Cambodia” here at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science before it leaves in August! Dr. Klassen’s research contributes to interdisciplinary dialogues of urbanism, resilience, and water management by providing empirical evidence of these cities’ long-term resilience.
She specializes in remotely sensed data (including lidar) and is currently directing the Koh Ker Archaeological Project (kkap.org) and co-directing the Cambodian Archaeological Lidar Initiative. This presentation includes a brief historical overview of Angkor and highlights recent efforts to map the ancient site using advanced remote sensing technologies – presenting key findings from two lidar surveys and discuss the analytical possibilities unlocked by these datasets.
We will conclude with a look ahead at her evolving research agenda and the broader implications for understanding Angkor’s urban and environmental history.
We can’t wait to see you at the Museum!
